The Cottage in Polany Surowiczne VII - IX, long

Polany Surowiczne is now an uninhabited valley, in which a populous Lemko people village stretched out before the war. It is located about 12 km south of Rymanów, at the foot of Polańska (737 m a. s. l.) and the Bukowica Range. The Cottage in Polany started its activity in 1981, when in one of the abandoned buildings of the prison, students from the NZS (Indepentent Association of Students) Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology founded a students’ cottage. Hence the name Chałupa Elektryków (the Electricians’ Cottage). The current host of the cottage is the "STYKI" Electricians’ Tourist Club at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology. It has about 40 beds in a large bedroom upstairs and two smaller ones downstairs, equipped with wooden bunks. In the hut are two kitchens and a consumption room available publicly. Drinking water is in the well and stream. Primitive toilets are located outside the building.

There is no electricity in the cottage and tourists are admitted free of charge on the basis of performing minor works for this place. Chałupa’s tradition is to welcome guests with a cup of hot tea.
