A parking lot in Wołosate

Wołosate is the furthest village in the south-east Poland. It is located in the Bieszczady National Park, in the valley of Wołosatka stream, only 3 km from the border with Ukraine, from which Beskid Pass separates it. Once it was a big Boykos village, but most of it was inhabited by Poles.

At present, Wołosate is the best starting point to the highest peak of the Polish Bieszczady Mountains - Tarnica (1346 m a. s. l.) as well as to Halicz (1333 m a. s. l.) and Rozsypaniec (1280 m a. s. l.                    ). Here begins but also ends the red Main Beskids Trail, which is nearly 500 km long. A blue trail called the border trail runs through Wołosate. In the summer season it is certainly one of the most crowded places in the mountains. Near Zachowawcza Stadnina Konia Huculskiego (Hutsul Horse Farm) is a large car park belonging to the Bieszczady National Park. There are, among others free educational room with interesting teaching aids, outdoor exhibition "Polish national parks", free sanitary facilities, educational boards, bicycle racks, souvenir shop, and even a pizzeria.
