The Kalinovska Pass is the first place where the Soviet Liberation Army reached Slovakia in 1944. After passing through the pass, they reached the village of Kalinov. So it became the first village liberated from the occupiers. A reminder of this event is the monument placed in the Kalinovska Pass. Directly in the village various military equipment reminding of the liberation fights are situated.
