Medzilaborce

The Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art is located in Medzilaborce city. It is dedicated to the artist Andrew Warhol, whose parents were Ruthenians nationality from Miková village, and emigrated to the United States of Northern America. That is why Andy Warhol was born in America. He was an American painter, filmmaker, author and important figure in the pop art movement. Additionally to artistic achievements, Andy Warhol is best known for his opinion "In the future, everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes”.

If you have never heard of this unique artist, it is worth to visit the museum.

Next to the museum building there is a nice Andy sculpture with an umbrella. Mini open-air museum also worth to visit. There are reduced replicas of Ruthenian houses, charming wooden cottages and characteristic log structure Orthodox church. The buildings are not original but constructed using traditional folk technique.

The Temple of the Holy Spirit was built in 1949 in the Old-Russian Renaissance style, its unique architecture and stunning interior decorations is the true dominant of the city.
