Nižná Pisaná

The village is located in the so-called "Death valley", at the site of intense fighting in 1944.
From one side was a well-fortified Hitler’s army, and from the side of Poland it was attacked by liberation troops. They crossed the border of Slovakia and tried a powerful concentrated attack to break through the fortified lines of the Nazi army. Thousands of soldiers were killed on both sides during the fighting. However, more on the side of the attackers – liberation army.

An interesting thing is that the Nazis displaced the civilian population of many villages in the area, when it was already known that the troops were getting closer and closer.
