Połonina Wetlińska

Połonina Wetlińska is a fairly long massif (8 km), consisting of few peaks, the highest of them is Roh (1,255 m. a.s.l. ). Połonina is situated in the Bieszczady National Park and is one of the most visited places in the Bieszczady Mountains. The highest parts of the range are covered by meadows of subalpine nature (i.e. mountain pastures), they are covered with valuable vegetation like Aconitum bucovinense and Eastern Carpathian aconite, Kotschy's cornflower and others. Before the displacement, the Boyko people grazed cattle and sheep at Połonina. Referring to old traditions, since 2020 the BPN again allowed for grazing and constructed a shepherd’s hut next to the trail. On Wetlińska is the highest located shelter in the Bieszczady Mountains – Chatka Puchatka, which, at the beginning of 2020 is to be demolished and, in its place, the educational station of the Park is to be constructed. There is a vast panorama from Połonina. We can see Połonina Caryńska, Tarnica, Bukowe Berdo, Pikuj and Ostra Hora in the Ukrainian side, border band with both Rawki, Otryt and even a dam on Solina Lake. When is very good air transparency, we can see distant peaks of Gorgans or the Tatra Mountains. The red Main Beskids Trail runs through the entire range.
