The Arpad Line was a defensive fortification built by Hungary during the World War II. It is
a system of fortifications, the tip of which reaches to the territory of the current Slovak Republic (during the World War II it was the territory of Hungary). The line of Hungary fortifications (in those years called the Kingdom of Hungary) was dedicated to the legendary leader, Prince Arpad, who brought the Old Hungarian tribes to the territory of today's Hungary. Due to the general lack of building materials and workforce the various bunkers and fences that made up this line which were built during World War II were not of the best quality. The fortifications were built on the eastern and northern border of contemporary Hungary, today Ukraine and Slovakia. Part of the Arpad line near Ulič village was reconstructed. Eventually, the line played almost no significant role during the World War II.
