Połonina Caryńska

Połonina Caryńska is one of the most famous mountain pastures in the Bieszczady Mountains. Its name comes from the non-existent Caryńskie village. It is a natural extension of Połonina Wetlińska, separated from it by Prowcza stream. On the other hand, it is separated from Szeroki Wierch by the Wołosate River in Ustrzyki Górne. Połonina along its entire length has as many as 4 culminations, the highest one called Kruhly Wierch has 1297 m a. s. l. South-western slopes are short and descends steeply towards the valleys, while the north-eastern ones form gentler ridges divided by valleys of small streams. From the peak, there is a panorama of almost the entire Bieszczady Mountains, like Bukowe Berdo, Szeroki Wierch, Tarnica, the border range with Wielka and Mała Rawka, Połonina Wetlińska, and Otryt. In addition, the Ukrainian Bieszczady with Pikuje, Ostra Hora and Połonina Równa at the forefront, and with good visibility of the Gorgany Mountains. In winter, when the phenomenon of inversion occurs, one can see the Tatra Mountains about 150 km away.

Rare plants that have their positions on Caryńska include Orobanche alba Stephan ex Willd, Alpine rolling stock, Eastern Carpathian and Aconitum bucovinense.

The red Main Beskids Trail runs along the entire range of Połonina Caryńska.
